The charity has three sites in Walthamstow providing approximately 15 acres of allotments to generate income for the charity. The Walthamstow and Chingford Almshouse Trustee Company also manages the Spade Husbandry Society, an allotment Charity which was established in 1830 “whose object it shall be to obtain suitable pieces of ground to be let in allotments to the industrious poor for cultivation by the spade”. The Spade Husbandry site is now owned by the Conservators of Epping Forest for the benefit and use of the Trustee to make available as allotments.

Complaints Procedure

If you have a complaint about how we have dealt with your application for an allotment you should write to the Clerk to the Directors who is responsible for the management of the Walthamstow and Chingford Almshouse Charity. If you remain dissatisfied following the response from the Clerk, you should write to the Chair of the Allotment Committee.

The map shows all four allotments sites (green markers). If you adjust the map (drag and zoom, or double-click) you can see more detail. You can also see our Almshouse sites (red markers). A marker with a number means there are that many sites very close together - zoom in to distinguish them!
